Revista Paula (from the newspaper El País) published an interview with Manuela López and Exequiel Caldas reviewing the journey of Atenea Colectivo Films, from its founding in 2019 to its most recent projects.
The article traces the collective's origins —born from a call by biologist Joaquín Aldabe for a documentary about the wetlands of eastern Uruguay— and mentions the most important milestones along the way: the documentary Vuelvo al Sur, awarded in India and the United States; the series Hábitat (Uruguay), with six episodes and available on Amazon Prime Video for Latin America; and the multimedia exhibition El Garzal, opened in April 2025 in Treinta y Tres and currently on display at the La Paloma Cultural Center.
It also refers to the Puma de los Andes award obtained at the Santiago Wild Film Festival for the short film "Coragyps atratus", and mentions ongoing projects: Arerunguá —winner of the Development Fund of the Uruguayan Film and Audiovisual Agency— and Legado azul, a co-production with W Media from Maldonado focused on Uruguayan marine wildlife.
In the interview, the directors reflect on the role of cinema in the environmental crisis: "We are just a small part called to transform our relationship with nature. Without the joint work of scientists, politicians and social movements, the true regeneration of a natural planet would be impossible."
